Scarlets skipper Josh Macleod has acknowledged the problem posed by an Eddie Jones crew as Wales search to finish their winless run in Japan.

Wales have suffered 17 straight Check defeats – a file for a tier one nation – since claiming their final victory in opposition to Georgia on the 2023 World Cup.

Former Australia and England boss Jones, now in command of Japan for the second time, hopes to increase that depressing sequence throughout Wales’ two-Check collection within the Far East subsequent month.

“I’m not too aware of him myself however I’ve heard on the grapevine that he’s obtained sure attributes,” stated back-rower Macleod.

“I think we’ll find those out on the pitch.

“No Test game is easy, but as a group we haven’t shied away from it (losing run).

“We’ve touched on the fact that we are looking to end that, we’ve got a job to do in the conditions.

“We’ve got to pull together and stay tight as a group, look to produce on the pitch and get that win.”

Macleod has returned to the Wales camp to provide competition for Taulupe Faletau, Aaron Wainwright and others after being dogged by damage.

The 28-year-old was denied a Six Nations debut in opposition to Scotland in 2021 after struggling a ruptured Achilles tendon in coaching, shortly after his inclusion within the beginning crew was introduced to the squad.

Macleod needed to wait till the 2022 autumn conflict in opposition to Georgia to win that first senior cap.

However Macleod missed the 2023 World Cup in France with a shoulder damage after being a part of Wales’ pre-tournament coaching squad.

“I’ve had an honest little bit of dangerous luck over time,” stated the twice-capped Macleod.

“This yr one among my focuses has been to remain match and do all I can off the pitch to hit that concentrate on. Thus far, so good.

“I’ve simply saved my head down with the membership, attempting to carry out for the Scarlets. It’s nice to be again.”

Macleod’s recall is reward for a powerful season at membership degree, along with his management very important in Scarlets being the one Welsh aspect to make the knockout phases of the United Rugby Championship.

He stated: “It was robust in the beginning not being concerned on the Scarlets (by damage), however having performed virtually each recreation this yr I really feel my voice has been heard.

“Clearly we will’t shrink back from previous performances and previous outcomes right here.

“However I assume not having been concerned for a good whereas…(I deliver) a recent outlook, a little bit of management and a relaxed head.”
