Iga Swiatek’s title protection on the Madrid Open represents a gauntlet of potential revenge matches for the five-time main champion.

It may begin with a second-round encounter with 19-year-old sensation Alexandra Eala, pending a first-round conflict for the 72nd-ranked Filipina towards Viktoriya Tomova. Eala famously surprised Swiatek within the quarterfinals at Miami final month.

Subsequent up for Swiatek could possibly be a battle with Thirty first-seeded Linda Noskova of Czechia within the third spherical. To be truthful, Swiatek has already bought three doses of revenge towards Noskova after falling to her on the Australian Open in 2024, the final two victories coming in three units.

Essentially the most evident matchup lingering in Swiatek’s path is a possible spherical of 16 conflict with Jelena Ostapenko. The Latvian, recent off the Stuttgart title, is 6-0 lifetime towards Swiatek and defeated her final week within the semifinals on the pink clay.

If Swiatek can discover her strategy to the quarterfinals, and the seeds maintain, she would face Madison Keys, the girl who knocked her out of this 12 months’s Australian Open en path to the title.

Swiatek’s potential semifinal opponent could be both Coco Gauff or Mirra Andreeva. It needs to be famous that Andreeva has received each of her conferences with Swiatek in 2025, a straight set victory within the Dubai quarterfinals and a three-setter at Indian Wells, within the semis.

    23-year-old Swiatek, 22-

7 on the season, will bid for her twenty third profession title at Madrid.

Within the high half of the draw, No.1-seeded Aryna Sabalenka will face a qualifier within the second spherical – after a bye, and will face Elise Mertens within the third spherical. If the seeds maintain Sabalenka would face Amanda Anisimova within the spherical of 16, Zheng Qinwen within the quarterfinals and Jessica Pegula within the semis.

Fundamental draw play begins tomorrow in Madrid.
