Iga Swiatek notched her fifth consecutive win over Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-4, to succeed in the final eight on the Cincinnati Open on Wednesday afternoon.
“I used to be prepared,” Swiatek deadpanned after reaching her twenty fourth WTA 1000 quarterfinal. The third-ranked Pole improves to 46-12 on the season, as she bids for her twenty fourth WTA title within the Queen Metropolis.
Swiatek will face both Ekaterina Alexandrova or Anna Kalinskaya subsequent.
Swiatek is the the youngest girl to succeed in the quarterfinals on the Cincinnati Open for 3
consecutive years since Simona Halep (2013-2015).
“We performed many robust matches, so I do know Sorana can actually hit the ball nicely – particularly on quicker surfaces,” Swiatek instructed the group. “I’m glad I used to be stable sufficient. I used to be making an attempt to be proactive with my serve — not lots of my first serves went in, however I used to be glad I used to be stable on my second serves.”
The Wimbledon champion, making her seventh look in Mason, Ohio, is aiming to succeed in her first Cincinnati last this week.
