    Noah Lolesio out of Lions series after undergoing operation

    Australia fly-half Noah Lolesio has undergone an operation on the neck harm he sustained towards Fiji on the weekend, possible ruling him out of the sequence with the British and Irish Lions.

    A Rugby Australia statement reads: “Rugby Australia and the Wallabies can confirm Noah Lolesio has had successful surgery today.

    “Lolesio sustained an on-field injury in the second half of the Test against Fiji in Newcastle on Sunday. After being initially discharged from hospital on Sunday evening, Lolesio was readmitted for surgical procedure this afternoon following an additional medical follow-up.

    “He’s anticipated to make a full restoration and can spend a time period away from the sport throughout his rehabilitation.

    “Rugby Australia and the Wallabies will proceed to help Noah and his household throughout this time.”

    Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt mentioned: “Firstly, we have been relieved that Noah was up and shifting properly when he returned to the crew resort after his preliminary hospital go to in Newcastle on Sunday.
