    Moana Pasifika flyer joins Chiefs on a two-year deal

    The Chiefs is perhaps shedding coach Clayton McMillan, Anton Lienert-Brown and Aiden Ross for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season, however they’ve picked up thrilling younger winger Kyren Taumoefolau from Moana Pasifika.

    The 22-year-old winger has been distinctive for Moana Pasifika previously two years and has now inked a 2-year cope with the Hamilton-based franchise for 2026.

    Taumoefolau, who has scored 12 tries for Moana Pasifika in 21 appearances, can be eligible for the All Blacks in October of 2026, after making six appearances for Tonga in 2023.

    The brand new Chiefs addition is assured that the Hamilton-based franchise was the best choice for him going ahead.

    “I’ve liked my journey to date and I’m actually happy with what I’ve been in a position to obtain with Moana Pasifika,” Taumoefolau advised the Chiefs in a press release.

    New Chiefs head coach Jono Gibbes, who’s changing McMillan, says that Taumoefolau is an thrilling addition to their backline.

    “We all know that he had loads of choices each in New Zealand and overseas, so to get the chance to proceed to develop and develop his sport within the subsequent part of his profession could be very thrilling for us. It’s a duty that we take very significantly,” Gibbes advised the Chiefs.

    “Kyren is a participant with immense potential, and he embodies most of the values we stand for. We all know he’ll thrive within the Chiefs Rugby atmosphere, each on and off the sector.”

    Chiefs CEO Simon Graafhuis is trying ahead to seeing the power that the younger winger will deliver to an already motivated group of gamers and employees.

    “He’s a participant that rugby followers have loved and I’m certain will love watching in Chiefs colors. We’re trying ahead to his uncooked ability, velocity and enthusiasm that he’ll deliver to the environment.”
