The Azerbaijan Grand Prix proved to be a dramatic weekend by way of the Drivers’ Championship, with chief Oscar Piastri crashing out of the race on Lap 1 whereas McLaren staff mate Lando Norris crossed the road down in seventh.
Max Verstappen, in the meantime, sealed a dominant victory on the Baku Metropolis Circuit, marking back-to-back wins after his triumph on the Italian Grand Prix two weeks earlier.
This sturdy run of type – coupled with a more durable outing for McLaren – has seen Verstappen carry the hole down within the Drivers’ Standings to 69 factors from Piastri with seven Grands Prix and three Sprints remaining.
