Fernando Alonso has conceded that he’s feeling extra optimistic about Aston Martin’s prospects heading in the direction of 2026 now that the workforce “belief the instruments that now we have within the manufacturing unit” following some profitable upgrades in the course of the 2025 marketing campaign.

Off the again of a difficult begin to the season, the Silverstone-based outfit looked to have made steps forward after bringing updates in the course of the European triple header, having recurrently scored factors within the races since.

When requested in the course of the Italian Grand Prix weekend if the success of those developments had given him much more hope shifting into 2026 – a 12 months during which new technical rules can be launched into the game – Alonso responded: “Yeah, undoubtedly.

“I believe to belief the instruments that now we have within the manufacturing unit and convey issues to the monitor that really ship what was anticipated from them is clearly an excellent factor.

“We didn’t have that in 2023 and in 2024. So yeah, it’s good to return to a extra regular factory-track sort of correlation and develop the 2026 automobile subsequent winter understanding that the instruments are appropriate.”

Whereas the race at Monza delivered a disappointing conclusion for Aston Martin – with Alonso forced to retire owing to a suspension failure whereas workforce mate Lance Stroll ended the occasion in P18 – Alonso believes there are some tracks remaining on the calendar that would present good alternatives for the squad.

“I believe now we have a few locations that we predict are extra just like Budapest and Zandvoort,” the two-time World Champion defined. “Possibly Singapore could be a type of, possibly Brazil.

“However, you understand, we’ve been shocked a bit bit – generally negatively shocked, generally positively – so we aren’t actually placing all of the hopes in a single or two races.

“We are going to go each weekend to provide our most, even when it appears troublesome. And yeah, we’ll see in Abu Dhabi what number of factors and which constructor place now we have on the finish.”

As issues stand forward of the ultimate eight races of the 2025 season, Aston Martin at present sit in sixth place of the Teams’ Championship with a tally of 62 factors, only one level away from Racing Bulls in seventh.
