Springboks head coach Rassie Erasmus has shared his desire to maneuver the Rugby Championship window to February, similtaneously the Six Nations.
Talking with media after the announcement of the 2026 Best Rivalry tour, the place South Africa will host the All Blacks, Erasmus gave his opinion on the Rugby Championship.
“I hope this doesn’t go towards SA Rugby’s needs or the way in which they’re pondering,” he informed reporters.
“I don’t need this to be a headline, that is my opinion. However I believe it could be unbelievable if we might (begin) the Rugby Championship in February, when the Six Nations is on.
“It could be a lot simpler if all of the groups have been aligned, not having some international locations flat in (July) and others are peaking in November and we’re flat.”
Enjoying the Rugby Championship in February would align the Southern Hemisphere worldwide competitors with Europe, with South Africa’s golf equipment already concerned on a European calendar.
As a result of South Africa’s exodus from Southern Hemisphere membership competitions in 2020, their contracted gamers already play on a European season.
Erasmus stated he noticed “no cause” why the opposite nations couldn’t play in February, which continues to be summer time in Australia, Argentina, and New Zealand.
“The legislation adjustments or variations could be simpler to implement throughout the board with all of the competitions beginning on the identical time,” he stated.
“In my sincere opinion, I can’t see a cause why New Zealand, Argentina and Australia can’t play that competitors similtaneously the Six Nations.
“There is perhaps an enormous factor that I’m lacking right here. I’m simply naming a couple of issues; I’m not saying that’s the answer.”
