    Chrissie Evert is formally a tennis Shining Star.

    Corridor of Famer Evert was one among a number of tennis legends illuminating final evening’s Harlem Junior Tennis & Training Program Gala.

    Iconic champion Billie Jean King, HJTEP Govt Director Katrina Adams and Patrick McEnroe had been all readily available as Evert obtained the Shining Star award  on the 53rd annual Harlem Junior Tennis & Training Program Gala on the Ziegfield Theater in New York Metropolis.

    Rennae Stubbs a earlier winner of the Shining Star Award and Milos Raonic had been two of the various ATP/WTA tour gamers readily available for HJTEP’s annual gala. Greater than $1 Million was raised from the charity occasion to assist HJTEP’s packages.

    HJTEP develops champions in tennis training and wellness, bringing tennis to youth from high-risk, low-income inner-city neighborhoods and affords alternatives for self-development, emphasizing training and a constructive code of conduct.

    The not-for-profit group opens a brand new door for a lot of inner-city girls and boys, ages 6-18, to be taught the sport of tennis. Since 1972 the numbers communicate to its success with a 95% highschool commencement price, a 3.1 GPA, and 80% of graduates attending school.
