5-star prospect Alijah Arenas was concerned in a serious car accident early Thursday morning and needed to be positioned in a medically-induced coma.

In response to Arenas’ household (Twitter link by way of Shams Charania of ESPN), the 18-year-old is now not in a coma and “has proven vital indicators of progress throughout the final 24 hours.” Whereas Arenas stays intubated, the truth that he was in a position to come out of the coma was a “crucial step ahead in his restoration.”

Arenas was reportedly the motive force and lone individual concerned within the crash. After hitting a hearth hydrant and tree, the car he was driving caught on hearth, and close by bystanders helped rescue him from the accident, per the assertion.

A 6-foot-6 taking pictures guard who has dedicated to enjoying his freshman season at USC, Arenas was No. 13 on ESPN’s recruiting rankings for the 2025 class, making him a potential first-round choose in 2026. He’s the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas.

Our greatest needs exit to Arenas as properly his household and buddies as he continues to recuperate.
