The Detroit Tigers have added veteran depth to their bullpen forward of a postseason push, buying right-handed reliever Kyle Finnegan from the Washington Nationals on Thursday, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Finnegan, 33, brings late-inning expertise to Detroit, being Washington’s main nearer since 2023. Regardless of a rocky 2025 season with Washington — marked by a 4.38 ERA — he is managed to gather 20 saves and submit 32 strikeouts and 14 walks in 39 innings.

Whereas Finnegan is unlikely to exchange Will Vest because the nearer — Vest leads Detroit with 16 saves and boasts a 2.53 ERA — the Tigers now have a veteran late-game possibility.
