Connor Doherty has signed a brand new one-year deal at Newcastle Falcons, a yr after arriving at Kingston Park from Sale Sharks.
The 25-year-old is the newest of a string of re-signings on the membership over the previous week, following Ollie Fletcher (hooker), Max Clark (centre), Ollie Leatherbarrow (flanker), Finn Baker (lock), and John Hawkins (lock).
Newcastle have seen their greatest names depart the membership over the summer season, together with captain Callum Chick and hooker Jamie Blamire, whereas Adam Radwan and Pedro Rubiolo left the membership halfway via the season.
Whereas the membership’s recruitment drive forward of subsequent season has been sluggish, they’ve been busy guaranteeing the exodus doesn’t proceed.
“I enjoyed my first season up here and am determined to build on it over the coming year,” the centre said.
“There’s loads of positivity around the place with everything that’s going on, and it’s exciting to be part of this new era.”
Falcons director of rugby Steve Diamond added: “I’ve known and worked with Connor for a long time, having signed him for Sale Sharks’ academy when he was a teenager.
“He gives us a physical presence in the centres, he hits some nice lines and is making good progress developing his all-round game.
“Getting on the front foot is so important at this level, and Connor is a player who can really help us out on that side of things.”
